We present a solution that we have developed with some of our customers to address the GIGA casting challenges of lightweight construction of lightweight construction, performance requirements and manufacturability.

Session description
For lightweight design, we have combined topology optimization - especially for the multitude of crash safety relevant situations - with a response surface optimization approach. This optimization uses AI and machine learning, to classify and cluster the results of large multidisciplinary optimization studies with more than 1000 individual simulations, to optimize for the desired component behavior.
