Kurtz Ersa opens new production facility in Ciudad Juárez
The grand opening of the new production facility of Kurtz Ersa Manufacturing México S.A. DE C.V. in Ciudad Juárez marks an important milestone for the company and the entire Chihuahua region. With a production area of 4,500 m² as well as offices and a demo center, the new site is the third major service and logistics center in America after Plymouth (USA) and Guadalajara (Mexico).
More than 70 guests, including representatives from politics, business and company management, attended the opening, including prominent guests such as the mayor of Ciudad Juárez, Cruz Pérez Cuellar, and Fernando Alba, responsible for innovation and economic development in Chihuahua.
’A vibrant center of our manufacturing activities’
Albrecht Beck, President & COO of Kurtz Ersa Inc. and Managing Director of Kurtz Ersa Manufacturing México, emphasized the strategic importance of the new production facility: ‘After careful consideration of various cities and options, including leasing an existing facility, we decided to build here in Juárez, a location that offers proximity to the US border, a talented workforce and excellent infrastructure.’
Beck praised the commitment of everyone involved, especially the team in Mexico, colleagues from the USA and Germany, who together made the realization of this ambitious project possible.
The plant in Ciudad Juárez will initially focus on the production of Ersa reflow soldering machines, including the high-end HOTFLOW THREE model, which, inspired by its success in Asia, will now also be manufactured in Mexico. The aim is to produce machines with the quality ‘made in Germany’ or even beyond. To ensure this, advanced production methods have been introduced and a highly qualified team has been set up. Six engineers from the Mexican start-up team received comprehensive training in Germany in early 2024, covering both technical and documentary processes.
Expansion underlines global strategy
The decision in favour of the site in Ciudad Juárez was made as part of the decision to expand production capacity to Mexico in 2022. With this step, Kurtz Ersa is building on the growing demand in North and Central America and at the same time strengthening the production and development site in Wertheim, Germany. In their speeches, Vincent and Rainer Kurtz, representatives of the shareholder families, emphasized the strategic importance of the new plant for the company's global expansion.‘I am convinced that this plant will develop into a vibrant center of our production activities and that we have made an excellent choice in Ciudad Juárez - on behalf of the management, I would like to thank everyone involved in the successful implementation of this project. First and foremost, I would like to mention Marcelino Espelosin and his team in Mexico, who made the successful realization of this ambitious project possible. The entire US team of Kurtz Ersa, Inc. as well as the German Ersa and Kurtz colleagues, who have contributed significantly to the establishment of the production here with their tireless efforts,’ said Albrecht Beck, before handing over the microphone to Vincent and Rainer Kurtz, who, as representatives of the Kurtz shareholder families, emphasized the strategic importance of the project for the Kurtz Ersa Group.
In addition to the traditional ribbon cutting, the opening ceremony included a factory tour, a festive buffet and live music from a mariachi band. The following day, numerous customers had the opportunity to experience the performance of Kurtz Ersa systems at first hand during a technology day.
